Probably like most of you, I live for my weekends. Not that I don’t enjoy my job on most days, but by the time I go to the gym, get home, make and eat dinner … there just isn’t much left for “me” time.
Saturday morning I wake up excited to start the coffeemaker and enjoy a fresh pot cup on the patio or living room couch. Life is peaceful and I have the entire weekend ahead of me to do with as I please (usually). Of course there are the typical errands and chores, but even those seem less tedious because I feel as though I have all the time in the world.
My sister and I used to have Saturday morning phone dates (Resa – we need to get back on those at least once a month!), but our lives have become increasingly busy. She has the little munchkin and we both have growing “to-dos.” Not to mention, as I get older the idea of talking on the phone is just awful. Don’t get me wrong, I love catching up with friends and family who don’t live nearby, but I much prefer face-to-face chats over a glass of wine or cup of coffee.
I do however love to sit down and write on this blog – even if it’s just for me, a way to keep memories in one place for later reflection and moments of nostalgia. It can be difficult sometimes to make the time to post, but I always feel better when I do. (I commented to Beth yesterday that it’s not about finding the time, but instead about making the time, and I believe that goes for anything.)
Since many of my friends and all of my family live in cities that are not DC, I use this blog as a way to fill them in on my life with pictures and stories. In an ideal world I would wake up every day – even during the week – with a cup of coffee and time to jot down a few words. Since I love sleep too much though, weekend coffee time will have to suffice …
So my goal for the rest of the year is to have at least one post a week using my weekend coffee time to write it, even if I publish on a different day. I know, I have set “post frequency” goals before, but this time I mean it. And I hope you, all three regular readers, will keep me in check!
Hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend and wishing us all a swift week!
You do a fantastic job with your blog! I love every “episode” !
